Icon 14 (Access Icon)
Today I had a big deadline to worry about at work, and after we finished up we all headed out to have a nice dinner. While this is nice for me, and was good for my overall well being, it did not leave a lot of time for my poor icon of the day blog. Luckily I have been given a chance to kill two birds with one stone tonight. I can do something very simple, as well has meet a request from yesterday. With that let's do the Access file icon. |
Step 1:
Today's icon is going to be very simple; we essentially follow the same steps as in Icon #7. The first thing I do is copy the Doc File over so I can make sure my Access icon matches. Then I import, or draw up, the Access, in simple 2d.
|
Step 2:
Now using the Perspective Tool I fit the Access icon in to the same perspective as the Word icon.
|
Step 3:
Now I give my perspective logo two contours, that I break apart form the original logo, and copy the fills from the DOC file, to make sure my bevels match.
|
Step 4:
Now I give the logo a maroon to red fill, as well a draw in some Glare to make it look like the face of the logo is glossy.
|
Step 5 Now I have the bulk of the logo done, I want to make a Database looking file. I Change the header to maroon and red, as well as change the extension text to MDB, (Microsoft Data Base). Also, using a series of rectangles I make myself a little spreadsheet that I can put on the file.
|
Step 6:
After copying the back of the logo twice, and skewing it quite a bit, I come up with two shapes to create drop shadows from. After making the shadows, I fade them out with the Interactive Transparency tool.
|
Step 7:
Now we have our logo, and our page. I group them separately then move them together to form our finished Icon.

Now if I follow yesterdays tutorial I can quickly make an Access Folder, as well as a stand alone Access icon. I will not bother tonight. I will, however, include those icons the in the Bonus pack when we get near the end of the project.
