LA Marathon training program: Week 3
Tuesday
November 28th, 2006
EZ Run 5mi @ 8:57
(Planned: 5mi @ 9:17)
Weight: 186.5
Time: 6:10am
Temp: 50f
Weather: Cloudy
Route: 5x Laps around the Sub.
Notes:
I guess I am getting used to my new EZ Run pace because I thought I was barley holding it and it turns out I was 20 seconds a mile fast. Next week is recovery then I move to 9:09 and it looks like that will be ok, of course I have to do 20 miles at that.
Over all a nice run, cloudy but warm (For Michigan) and the roads were dry. No problems with my knee, I think if I keep wearing the brace, and the band It will be back to normal before long.

You seem to be doing well. Don't worry about running faster than planned - as long as you're not constantly pushing the pace, your body is adapting quicker than most. The trick is to learn how to run fast with minimal effort. But be careful when you do your 20 - sit on the pace for the first 3 miles and find your comfort zone. The last 2-3 miles might feel hard but keep thinking that by dealing with the discomfort in training, you'll have been there in your head when you confront this feeling in the race. Remember, the motivation to suceed means nothing without the discipline to train. And you seem to be doing just that!
