LA Marathon training program: Week
6
Thursday December 21st
, 2006
EZ Run: 3mi @ 8:47
(Planned: 3mi @ 9:06)
Weight: 188
Time: 6:00am
Temp: 36f
Weather: Raining
Route: Treadmill
Notes:
Compared to Sunday, and yesterday, and tomorrow, today was / is, pretty laid back. This No problems at all except a slight case of boredom. Leading to increasing my pace for the last mile.
Actually I ran 2 miles @ 9:05, and 1 mile at 8:00. 8:00 is my theoretical marathon pace so I felt I should start trying to learn what it feels like.
I also spent this run pain more attention to my stride. I have a theory that might explain why my Long Run Sunday was so difficult. It seams that when I start worrying about my pace I tend to increase my speed by Lengthening my stride, rather then increasing my leg turnover. This leads to heavier impacts, and messes with my inertia. So today when I sped up to 8:00 I tried very hard to keep my strides shorter and more natural, and just do them faster. I am going to try this on my long run this week, and see if it helps.
