Notes:
Ok, First off I will admit that I am writing this two days late. This is for several reasons, first I did this run in the afternoon of Christmas Eve, and we after cleaning up we went out to dinner, and buy the time we got back I was just to lazy. Then the next day was of course Christmas. And I could not pull myself out of the cool Robotic Massage Chair that my wife got me. And Second, It was hard and depressing and I just did not feel like talking about it.
The run its self went technicality well. The problems were all in my muscles. I suffered through 2 hours and 40 minutes on the Treadmill, for a reason, to be able to have precise control of my pace. The bulk of this run was done at 9:05, I bumped it up to 8:00 for around 1.5 miles in chunks through out the run. I also finished up the last .25 at 6:58. Over all I should be proud of the results from this run, but...
The Problem lies in the Pain. At about 14 miles the run began to get painful, and it did not get any better the last 4 miles. I had to stop 3 times, Once for several minutes. I tried to slow the pace for a bit, in the hopes that the pain would lesson, but it did not seam to help. I am convinced that the pace was not the issue, its the distance.
I believe that even though I am not near my Lactic Threshold Pace, after a about 15 miles my I hit the LT like a wall. At this point the muscle pain begins. I'm hoping the distance before I hit this wall will get longer as the program continues. After all I have 3 more sets of 16-20 mile runs over the next 8 weeks.
PS. No pain at all in my knee, and as I right this on Tuesday, I am sure i have not injured myself, the pain was just muscle sourness. And unless I am mistaken I think I have added another fricken pound of muscle to my legs. I don't think I am ever going to see 180. |
