Icon 80 (Control Panel)

After torturing myself trying to think of something new to do for the Control Panel icon, I have finally had a "Forest for the Trees" moment. The thing that was bugging me was that I had already used the checkbox overlay in the "Folder Options" icon, and that icon had turned out to be pretty nice. I considered using it for the "Control Panel" icon as well, but I did not like the idea.

As I played with some of our elements from our previous icons I realized that there was a quick and simple way that would let me have my cake and eat it too. Let me show you how.

Step 1:

First we start with a copy of our Network Computer icon and delete the globe from the screen.

Step 2:

Now we copy our Check Box overlay from the Folder Options icon and remove the shadows.

Step 3a:

We gather up a few more elements; the pen from the My Documents folder and the a gear from the Folder Options icon.

Step 4:

Now I make one more copy of the gear, convert the copies to a bitmap and turn them into the new screen image.

Step 5:

Now we place the check box overlay in front of our monitor and give it a new shadow.

Step 6:

Last I move the copy of our pen and change the cap to Red to make it fit with the Check Mark.

Well, that wraps up our Folder icons. I will be doing a few more Bonus Folder icons, but more or less that will be all the folder icons to come in the main Iconpack.

I will put some thought into what icon we will do tomorrow. Check back in to find out.

Lovin' it, man.

Thanks, Teach.

BTW - sorry to bother, but will there still be a "Silica" video, or some other exercise in making that look?

Good request Corky O. Would it also be possible to have a video on making the Aero look as well?
