The marathon Icons have been up a month now, and I 3 weeks ago I ran my first Marathon for the Team In Training, raising money for the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Tomorrow I run the Flying Pig marathon in Cincinnati, for Team in Training. this will be #2 of the 3 marathons that I will be doing. However my main fundraising tool is the Marathon Icons. Thanks to everyone who has purchased the Icons, or donated. Wish me luck. If you want to help me out, you c...
Las Marathon, 2008. Finish Time: 3:45:41, new PR. Place: Overall 593/3525, Division 85, Sex 485. Marathon #5, State #4 of 50. Is been almost 6 week since I ran down the Vegas Strip, dressed as Elvis. When I was looking for a winter marathon, Vegas was one of the first I came across. While I was perusing the races web site, I found that they were looking to brake the world record of the most Elvi to run a marathon. Well I figured if I was going to do Vegas I...
Detroit Marathon, 2008: Finish Time: 3:46:49. Overall Place: 999 – 3551 I am righting this over a month after the actual race, mostly because I just don't know what to say. It was my best race to date in just about every way. I wanted to write something clever, and give a detail brake down of the entire race, since I have done my best to complain about how all the others went. But the strange thing is, now that I have had a near perfect marathon, I just d...
One year ago, I was writing almost the same blog as I am writing tonight. Tomorrows morning I will be running my Second Detroit Freepress Marathon. This will not only be my second Detroit Marathon, it is my Second Marathon, this month. Two weeks ago I ran the Milwaukee Lakefront marathon, with a finish time of 3:49:56. Tomorrow I will be running with a pace group for the first time, and shooting for another 3:50 marathon. The only thing crazy about this r...
Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon 2008. Finish Time: 3:49:56, Pace 26.2 @ 8:46. It took me a few days to decide just what to say about my experience at the 2008 Lakefront Marathon. What I would normally be my primary focus was my Time, which was a full 5 minutes ahead of my original goal of 3:55. This was great, and I am quite pleased. It feels food to be under 4 hours at last. Perhaps more surprising was that setting a new Marathon P.R. was one of the least mem...
Since I started running almost 3 years ago, I have run 2 full marathons, as well as 3 half-marathons. Yesterday I ran my 3rd full marathon, and set a new personal record of 3:54. The sad thing is it doesn't even count. My 1st marathon, L.A., March 2007, I trained very hard for, but had no idea what I was in for, and I burned myself out in the first 10 miles. I had a goal time of 3:30, but I finished with a time of 4:28. I was heartbroken, and it took me quite a while to be ready...
I am thinking of moving my running blog, back to Joe User, but I need Nike+ Widgets to work on it. So let us test it.
LA Marathon training program: (Post Mortem) Friday March 8th, 2007 It has been said, by wiser men then myself, that running is a mental sport, to this I ad my humble amen. While I admit I am quite upset that I did not do as well as I wanted, over all this marathon was good experience. I have taken the last four days to recover, and to put my thoughts together, and I thought I would wrap up this training marathon, with what the lessons I learned.

LA Marathon training program: Week 16 (The RACE!) Sunday March 4th, 2007 Race Day Marathon: 4:28:46 (Planned 3:30) Weight: 190 Time: 8:15am Temp: 72-81 Weather: Sunny Route: LA Marathon Course Notes: Disaster!!!! well kind of, I'm fine, I'm not even in that much pain, I just did allot of stupid things. I finished almost 1 hour over my dream time and about 45 minutes over my "realistic" goal time. I am going to write a ...
LA Marathon training program: Week 16 Friday March 2nd , 2007 Taper 3mi @ 9:13 (3mi @ 9:17) Weight: 192 Time: 6:00am Temp: 29 Weather: Snow Route: Treadmill Notes: This is my last run, save the most important one, the actual Marathon. This was yet another cake walk, as these taper runs should be. Nothing really to comment on, except that it went well. Once again my dam ipod game me a sync error w...
LA Marathon training program: Week 16 Thursday March 1st , 2007 Tempo: 5mi - 3mi @ 7:47 (5mi - 3mi @ 7:47) Weight: 192 Time: 5:30am Temp: 32 Weather: Snow Route: Treadmill Notes: This was my last bit of speedwork, though it seamed to hardly count, It really gave me a good feeling to do this, knowing how hard this same run was back in week 1. Now it was only a bit harder then my easy runs. This ru...
LA Marathon training program: Week 16 Tuesday February 27th , 2007 Taper: 3mi @ 9:11 (3mi @ 9:17) Weight: 192 Time: 5:30am Temp: 22 Weather: Snow Route: Treadmill Notes: The last week is here, and I am on a crazy roller costar of dread and hope. This run was pretty much uneventful as expected. 3 miles at 9:17 was almost a cake walk at this point. The only thing of note that happened with th...
LA Marathon training program: Week 1 5 Sunday February 25th , 2007 Long Run: 8mi @ 8:41 (8mi @ 8:41) Weight: 192 Time: 7:30pm Temp: 27 Weather: Cloudy Route: Treadmill Notes: I am writing this almost a week late, mostly because this last week of taper runs have been blessedly uneventful. But enough of that. This run went well, it was a bit hard for me to keep the pace down to 8:41. But I really fe...
LA Marathon training program: Week 1 5 Thursday February 22th , 2007 Tempo Run: 5mi - 3.1mi @ 6.49 (5mi - 3mi @ 7:19) Weight: 190 Time: 7:30pm Temp: 32 Weather: Cloudy Route: Treadmill Notes: This was the fastest 5k I have ever run. Clocking in at 21:12, a full minute faster then my last 5k race. I probably should not have done this so close to the marathon, but this tempo run was so fast that I could not ...
LA Marathon training program: Week 1 4 Tuesday February 20th , 2007 EZ Run: 4mi @ 8:41 (4mi @ 8:44) Weight: 190 Time: 5:10am Temp: 32 Weather: Cloudy Route: Treadmill Notes: Simple short taper run, no big news. I wanted to keep pretty much on program. My treadmill wont do 8:44 so I did run a bit faster then planed. But not enough to make me concerned. We have finally had a spell of decent weathe...
